How Hulmado is funded

We believe the people using a directory deserve to know exactly how it makes money — and whether that affects what they see. Here's the full picture.

What we do not do

A few things that are common in similar platforms but that we chose not to do — and why.

  • We do not charge booking or reservation commissions. When you contact a space and agree on terms, that transaction is entirely between you and them.
  • We do not accept payment to alter, remove, or suppress reviews. Reviews reflect actual user experience, not commercial relationships.
  • We do not accept payment to include a space in the basic directory. All qualifying spaces are listed regardless of whether they subscribe to premium.
  • We do not sell user data or personal information to coworking spaces or third parties.

What we do do

Our revenue comes from one primary source, and it's designed to keep the directory neutral.

  • Coworking spaces can subscribe to a premium directory tier that gives them additional visibility — more photos, featured placement in search results, and a highlighted listing badge.
  • Premium placement is clearly labeled so users always know which spaces have paid for additional visibility.
  • Non-subscribing spaces appear in standard search results based on relevance and location — not on commercial relationships.
  • Our editorial team operates independently of the commercial team — listing quality is not influenced by subscription status.

Why this model matters to you

When a platform earns commissions on bookings, it has a financial incentive to push you toward more expensive options, to make switching harder, and to keep you on-platform rather than connecting you directly with the space. Our directory subscription model removes those incentives. We earn the same amount whether you choose the cheapest space or the most expensive one — so our only job is to give you accurate, complete information.

Editorial Independence

Listings are never for sale

The editorial team that reviews spaces and manages listing quality operates independently from the team that handles premium subscriptions. A space cannot pay to have negative reviews removed, cannot pay to appear if they don't meet our verification standards, and cannot pay to misrepresent their amenities or pricing.

This separation is structural — not just a policy. The people who decide what goes in the directory are not the same people who sell subscriptions.

If you ever notice information that appears inaccurate or suspect that a listing has been altered commercially, we encourage you to report it through our contact form. We investigate every report.
